The title to the place I live. It's home. For now. MUA HUA HUA!
Oh, and a check for $70 or so because I over paid (well, DUH, but that's another story).

Got a new computer desk (already in the basement at the inlaws - no need to bring it here and then take it back over in 2 weeks), a bookshelf from the inlaws.
Got a sweater (my first) and a Target gift card ($25) from my family.
Got a new monitor from Kristin, a $50 gift card to Best Buy from work, and no payments until April or so from grandma. So I can get a new computer for kristin and me!! YAAY

Linux and wireless cards
Oh, how I wish linux 2.6 supported my DWL-122 better. (okay, at all.) Maybe -test11 will work. The 2.6 kernel doesn't seem compatible with linux-wlan-ng code, and I'm seeing a 'hermes' driver that appears to suppose Prism 2 so I'm hopin g that I can get that working. I want wireless. =(

I am a BLACK butterfly! I don't really like others,
but most of them tolerate me. I'd rather be by
myself, and I enjoy being mysterious and aloof.
Goth? Maybe....

summer....
Have I mentioned that I don't like summer. Wasps and bees?
Anyways, at least right now it's a little rainy occasionally...

Well
Work is no longer so boring. Got lots to do now that the boss is back. We didn't end up getting the WY contract, but that's ok, we're looking to get more grants anyways. And now we're doing PDFs at work using ActivePDF. Nice piece of software, that. Dropped it in, and 10 minutes later we were making PDFs. Of course, I took a couple of hours to better intergrate it into the report engine, but still very easy.
Just rearranged the living room, now we're getting an entertainment centre from the inlaws, and instead of a double-mortgage payment, the wife wants (she initiated it!) to instead get a TV (which I like the idea of). I wish HDTV weren't so much fluff. Way too expensive, and if it's like my digital cable (can't name names, it's against TOS, after all, that 1st amentment is only for gov't, not gov't sponsored monopolies), then the digital channels will be CRAPPY quality. Very obvious visual artifacts, and even worse "skips" when it decides it's too far behind. Oh well, we're get a nice 28" or something like that, and do something with the old, working, yet HEAVY (read: H-E-A-V-Y) TV. It's like 32" or something, but as heavy as *I* am.
Cleaned the back bedroom a little, the wife did WAY more work on it. Sure, I moved the bed and heavy stuff, but she cleaned it. And lifted alot that I wouldn't want to without promise of ice cream or something. It's really nice, too.

Today
Today, I went grocery shopping for my wife. Usually, she goes, but since her mom had to go on Sunday, I went instead. I decided to go to one near my work, since I wanted to pick up some jewish food (matzah for passover and some macaroons).
Got some food, gave the wife $40 for spending tomorrow.

Office 2K3 beta
Well, I like Outlook 2k3. I will note, though, that I had some problems launching it, but I expect they'll fix that soon.
At home today, there's 5 in. of snow outside, and even the Aurora Mall is finally closing! So I'm not going outside today, except maybe to walk later.
I hope tomorrow is a repeat.

Pueblo
Pueblo is a smallish town. I prefer Greeley, I think. Didn't find the place my mom wants a picture of, but ate at Passkey. Seems to be pretty good food. Colorado Springs, as always, had a great view of the mountains as we passed through.
We're gonna get webcams! Okay, I have one now, but we're gonna get better ones. I'm thinking of maybe doing video-journalling. I tried with the old camera, but it wasn't good enough. Maybe now that it's better, I'll setup some space somewhere to store them.

Fun
My boss is sick today, so not much going on here. At work we're moving, so I'm looking up wiring standards (TIA/USOC/etc.), 66 and 110 blocks (oh, joy), and deciding if I can move the phone system myself. (Well, at least the wiring. I'm not strong enough to LIFT it.)
I'm too efficient, almost everything on my plate is waiting for others to finish their parts, now. And I still can't decide on my next programming project. I might do unix C/C++, or perhaps VB.NET...
Spanish class is fun. La clase de español es muy divertada! Tonight's class is chapter 2 review and test. I'll be done in 30 mins or no money back. Hehe.
I'm also deciding as to what to do this summer - get a laptop for the wife, go horse back riding on a weekend thingy, drive to some non-Colorado city and stay in a hotel overnight (the wife wants to do this alot), etc. Of course, I won't be able to say what I am going to do until I do it, I know my wife reads my journal (hi, dear!).
Well, enough for now. Laters.

Tired...
Well, a little tired. Work was fun, fixed a bug in a module, secured the system a little more, Monday I get to drive to Pueblo for a mini0conference on HIPAA transaction codes. Joy!! (Mileage)
Kristin's playing the guitar right now, and we just finished a fun game of Conqueror's Expansion (yes, it's from That Company/MegaCorp). 4 computers vs. us 2. Next, I think we should play my brother in law (BTW, he got married), and see how much fun that can be.
At shul tonight, I went to the mini-service at 5:30. It was the shortest I've ever had, only half an hour. Usually it's almost an hour, because there's just not much a "rabbi" is gonna wanna cut, but this was lay-led. Chop! Chop! Relaxing and in a way, rather soothing. I knew something like half of the service by heart once I got started, and although the next youngest person was twice my age (okay, there was a girl there, but she was just a girl, and maybe half my age). I felt connected, though, to jewishness. My wife will probably read that and think i've lost it. Oh well...

Well...
Okay, what to write? Got home from spanish class, making waffles in my NICE NEW NON-BELGIAN WAFFLE MAKER! Yay! Finding a normal waffle maker seems to be harder and harder...
also, trying to decide why I have so many email addresses. I've got two with attbi, two with hotmail, one with msn, one with netscape, and I'm sure others I've forgotten about... I think when I switch to comcast, I'll pare the attbi ones down into one, perhaps the hotmail ones I'll keep, the msn one I might keep, might not. The netscape one *shrug*.
We got the waffle maker and a bread maker. Gave my mom's back to her. Mmm... waffles. Got to go.

Okay! Worked on a real VB.Net project - I converted a JTO XML parser (VB6) which previously converted it into HTML tables into a JTO XML parser (VB.Net) which posts to a MS-SQL database, using INI files (because System.Configuration seems to be a rather screwed up namespace, I don't like it), and it works just great...

I hafta pay taxes! Argh. Specifically, I have to pay this year, instead of getting a refund like most years. I think Signal didn't take out enough... so I get to make a check of $120 or so...
Work is fun. I'm SOOOO delighted about MS XML 5.0 (very, very sarcastic). I've seen better CSV parsers, not to mention XML. Ugh. I'm almost tempted to write my own.

Journal
Okay, I haven't been updating the journal much. I'll see if I can start doing that more.
I've got .Net (vb), but I don't know what I want to make with it. I haven't found any project that appealing that I wanna get on it and really work to make it work. I'm still waffling on making a calendar thingy that would do iCal-like stuff and work with shadskitty's (wife's) palm. Maybe, maybe no. I had some code before I lost everything by being stupid and accidentally deleting my XP partition - unbacked up. There's a reason FreeBSD and Linux tell you to back up your drive BEFORE installing. Oh well, life goes on.

well...
Well.... how am I? Doing alright. Almost done building the server. Now, just got to get a video card for it.
I'm hoping that in a few weeks, I'll meet with the Rabbi and talk about the possibility of studying under him for awhile towards a conversion. The stickler will be Kristin and the Rabbi agreeing on how I can raise kids. We'll see.
